Lemon-yellow, oblong apples with russet spots and a reddish-orange blush where exposed to the sun; crisp, juicy flesh is sweet and aromatic; ripens in early to mid-fall
'Yellow Bellflower' is a wonderful variety for cooking, cider-making, and for storing as a dessert apple. First found in New Jersey, this apple was recommended as a "Long-keeping Apple" by Philadelphia nurseryman Bernard McMahon in The American Gardener's Calendar (1806). The fruit bruises easily, so take care when storing.
