La Joya trees produce a breba and main crop. The trees grow 5-lobed leaves with pointy lobes. La Joya was discovered in Santa Barbara, California in 2018. It was an unknown variety found by a fig enthusiast and forum-member by the name of Evdurtschi. While La Joya was discovered in California where fig wasps pollinate fig plants, cuttings have been distributed in other locations throughout the US where they have produced fruits without caprification.
The combination of green and purple on the skin can give the figs have a dusty color. La Joya figs have a unique tropical flavor. Tasters note flavors of pineapple, mango, and primarily strawberry. The large and juicy figs have an acidic finish.

When do we ship cuttings?
Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):
We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.
**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refrigerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.
Rooted Cuttings(Spring):
We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.
