Barn swallows in mid-flight careen around the entire circumference of the versatile Whichford Swallow Pot, adding spirit and a sense of motion to this large container. The sizes of the swallows, each done in bas relief, varies, as if to suggest they are at different distances from the viewer. The vessel is handcrafted at England’s family-run Whichford Pottery and made using locally sourced clay. The attractive broad rim has a practical purpose, too, facilitating the moving of the pot from one place to another. Two slender bands near the rim and one raised band on the lower part of the container are accentuated by a gray wash, as are the delightful swallows.

All Whichford pots have a 10-year frost-proof guarantee. In colder climates where they may be subject to freeze/thaw cycles, we recommend emptying and storing them indoors. If you choose to overwinter your pots outside, cover them and place in a protected area where they are not in contact with bare ground.
